The data may also indicate that a small number of heritage language speakers are entering the system as teachers
with a small percentage of schools mentioning Polish, Lithuanian, Portuguese and Arabic in this context. A slightly
higher percentage of schools mention Russian and this may reflect a number of graduates in the system who have
Russian in their degree (this is available in Trinity College and is often taken with another language).
Eight schools were unaware of whether or not they had teachers who, with further upskilling, would be capable of
teaching additional foreign languages.
