The comments that are repeated relate to demand from both parents and students, popularity of the language,
a useful language for holidays and travel, spoken in lots of countries, and to a lesser extent, for future career
opportunities.
• The school has a teacher who can teach Spanish but she is needed to teach German. …There is interest from
students and parents in these languages.
• High Demand - no teachers
• Increased options for students, Spanish is popular in feeder primary schools.
• Economic growth of South American market lead to business opportunities for students
• Spanish is popular in student surveys of requested subjects.
• Demand for Spanish is very high in the community.

Many Irish people visit Spain regularly and there are great links between Ireland and Spain.
