PPLI Audit of Foreign Languages - Flipbook - Page 50
ITALIAN:
The comments cover broadening the languages on offer, employment, an existing Italian teacher in the school,
and Italian as an achievable subject.
• I feel it would be a fresh initiative for the school and would raise the profile of languages generally
• To give students further opportunity for employment
• A number of overseas students with Italian
• Italian can be an easier language to learn for students with learning difficulties
• Greater choice for students.
• I believe Italian is quite an accessible language to learn.
• A small number of 3rd year students have expressed an interest in Italian. One of our neighbouring schools
offers this language and it might be possible to share teaching resources.
• One fully qualified teacher is employed to teach a full Irish timetable
• The nature of student recruitment and also to broaden linguistic competency of students more generally
• The teacher already has some experience with Italian
• Mar tá Muinteoir leis an cáilíocht sin again (As we have a teacher with that qualification)
• Iodáilis and Spáinnis álainn mar theangacha. (Italian and Spanish are beautiful languages.)
