Academic
Overview
As an all through school for Year 5 - 11 on the
same site, Priory Academy is uniquely placed to
ensure the best possible progression for its
students as they move through Key Stage 2 to
Key Stage 4. We share good practice, teacher
expertise and high-quality facilities across all
ages, and as a result we avoid the dips that can
occur with transition. We aim to provide
challenge for the most able and ensure excellent
support for those who need it.

Stage 2 students the opportunity to work with iPads
to familiarise themselves and prepare them for later
learning. This digital learning offers students an
exciting opportunity to learn in creative ways whilst
also developing skills ready for the digital landscape
of the future. However, face to communication, oracy
and handwriting are given an equal focus and these
skills are developed fully through our curriculum.
Students are expected to become independent
learners while they are with us, seeking information
for themselves, challenging accepted and received
ideas and coming to their own informed judgements.
Our students produce work of undisputable quality in
all years and are rightly proud of all that they
accomplish.
We have a highly trained, well-motivated and
dedicated staff of teachers and learning support
assistants: many of whom have additional
qualifications in their subjects or further higher
educational study. They dedicate a great deal of their
time to planning lessons, producing personalised
bespoke resources and sharing strategies and good
practice with their colleagues.
Their learning is enhanced by balancing both digital
learning and traditional learning. Students in Years 7 11 have their own iPad to be used for learning in
