Beauty Forum Feb23 - Flipbook - Page 54
As you look at the year ahead, you have two
options; one is of being stressed and worried if
things will go wrong or not run according to
plan and the other is to accept whatever
happens and deal with the situation at hand
when it occurs. Now more than ever you
realise the need to put plans in place, be
ready for and accept the unexpected.
So, what can you do differently this year that
you have not already tried before? Some of
us try to perfect what we do best and then
repeat it again and hopefully expect a different
result. This, in my book is the definition of
insanity.
Here are some uncomfortable strategies that I
exercise in my coaching and leadership
development business to get my clients to
break the mould and come up with new ideas.
Take a 360 degree look at
yourself and your business
Look at your business from all angles and
from the inside out. What do your staff, clients,
stakeholders and product companies see in
you and your business?
This entails you coming up with some key
questions and holding you and your business
to critical feedback, good or bad. Being
resilient and embracing vulnerability is
essential in this exercise. The obvious reason
is to improve your service levels and all other
areas of the business as per your focus. This
should also involve your staff and you too if
you come into direct contact with your clients.
Brainstorm session
Set a day aside and do a SWOT analysis
(Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and
Threats) of the business with your staff,
partners or stakeholders.
Now more than ever you
realise the need to put
plans in place, be ready
for and accept the
unexpected!
Mystery Client Promotions
Organise some mystery clients to come in,
book a service and purchase retail products
relevant to a promotion you are running. Let
your team know of the promotion, the number
of mystery clients and over what period it will
take place. Then at the end of the promotion,
organise a fun night with food and drinks and
provide feedback to your team from the
feedback forms filled out by the mystery
clients.
The purpose is to learn from this, increase
your level and quality of service and finally
reward the therapist that scored the highest
points based on the feedback sheets.
Systemization
a) Policy & Procedures
Either create or update your Policy &
Procedures. This is a document that states
what is already happening in the business,
putting it down in a clear and concise format
for all staff to follow and adhere to. One
important is to only include what you can and
will do, do not put something in “that looks
good” or is just too ambitious, that you risk
losing interest in or in implementing.
