Do you engage in education courses?
Absolutely I will always update my training and
product knowledge wherever possible. It’s a
fantastic way to keep up to date and it stops me
getting set in my ways after years of working in this
industry. Products, application techniques and
processes are always changing so keeping ahead
of this is really important and allows me to give my
clients the best service possible.
Nail Health Trends
Helping people achieve nail health is huge now
and I love it. People really want to keep natural
nails healthy while using gel products. There is a
lot of mis-information regarding gel products and
the damage caused by them. When used correctly
with the right care for application and removal Gel
has no detrimental impact on the natural nail.
Damage only happens when people
misuse the product. I’m all for
'qualified people' only having access to
these products. Clients themselves are
usually the culprits in damaging their
own nails by picking and peeling.
Advice for someone starting up a
business
Work in the industry first to see if it’s really
something you want to do.
Talk to other people in the industry and learn
from them.
Find your suppliers and work on your
relationship with them. You would be amazed
at how much they can help your business
when you are both on the same page.
Get a basic knowledge of business and do
your homework on profit margins and
expenses. Profit margins in this industry are
very tight hence the need to work very hard.
Try to plan for the unexpected.
It is not easy working for yourself, the work is
hard and the hours are long. But the joy of
what you are doing, the pleasure it brings
others, and being in control of your own
destiny should outweigh all else.
Work hard, stay positive and above all look
after your wellbeing.
