PROVINCIAL MEMBERSHIP OFFICER:
MARTIN WHITE-PEART
Tips from the Provincial
Membership Team
Dear Brethren, As we move towards
the feasts of Easter and spring in
general, the concepts of renewal,
revival
and
resurrection
are
inescapably at the forefront of my
thoughts. It is with this sense of
renewal and rejuvenation that the
Members’ Pathway events for this
year will focus on the masonic offer
provided
by
lodges
and
the
members’ experience. We will aim to
look at practical steps to make the
lodge experience more rewarding,
purposeful and fun, with the
overarching aim to aid engagement,
retention and retrieval of members
by better aligning the lodge activities
with both their aspirations and
expectations.
Brethren, it is as true with
freemasonry
as
with
any
membership based organisation, it is
easier retain existing members than
it is to attract new ones; equally we
are most likely to attract new
members from our newer members
so it is vitally important that we get
the member experience right, from
the point of initial contact all the way
through a brothers journey. These
sessions will have a look at lesson
learned from across the constitution,
good practice alongside practical
steps lodges can take to revive and
reenergise themselves as happy and
vibrant places we all wish them to
be. It would be wonderful to see as
many of you in attendance across
the various sessions across the
Province. Membership and the
future of our lodges are all of our
concern so why not attend as a
lodge as a whole to your chosen
session; where the Provincial team
can
facilitate you in getting to the bone
and marrow of the challenges
experienced within your respective
lodges.
We know that success does not just
happen, and that Lodges need to
plan for their future. Every Lodge
has the responsibility to ensure that
it continues to attract new members,
understands their needs and meets
its obligations to them so that they
are engaged and enjoy their
Freemasonry. Where this is done
well those Lodges will thrive and
become stronger. By now every
lodge would have been made aware
of their membership challenge, by
embracing the Members’ Pathway
lodges will have access to a
comprehensive toolkit of resources
designed to tackle and address the
prevailing challenged faced by our
lodges.
If your lodge hasn’t done so already,
carrying out a review of your current
practice to form the basis of a lodge
plan would put you in the best
position to take full advantage of
these upcoming workshops. To
enable you to do which, there are
quick start guides downloadable
from the membership section of the
Provincial website with further
reading and resources found at
https://b.ugle.org.uk/membership,
equally myself or any member of the
Provincial Membership Team are at
hand to signpost and provide advice
to help you with the process. Please
keep your eyes peeled for the
imminent
communication
with
workshop
dates
and
booking
instructions, All are welcome!
As a gentle reminder, being aligned
as a lodge to the members’ Pathway
is one of prerequisites for a lodge to
be considered for the placement of
an unsponsored external applicant.
It is our desire to be in a position as
a province where EVERY lodge is
considered suitable for placements
of applicants. Lodges wishing to
position themselves to be best
placed to receive these potential
candidates, working in partnership
with the Provincial membership team
would be the start of this journey.
Much of the management of these
external applicants, as well as the
support afforded to our lodges, is
undertaken by our Provincial team of
membership officers, to whom I am
eternally
grateful
for
their
unwavering commitment to exacting
standards and the provision of high
quality support. As we strive to
maintain the best possible reach and
the highest standards across all
aspects of the services, we are now
seeking expressions of interest to
join the our team to ensure we
continue to meet the needs of our
lodges and members. If you feel that
an opportunity within the Provincial
Membership Team would be right for
you,
