CLUB CHAIR:
LIAM TURNER
Brethren
I would like to begin by stating
that the Light Blues Club is your
Club
and
we
need
your
involvement to make it a success.
With that in mind I can announce
that this year’s AGM will be held
at the Shirley Woolmer Masonic
Hall, Church Road, Sidcup, DA14
6BX on Saturday 18th May 2024
at 10.00 am and will last around 2
hours.
The purpose of the AGM is to
elect or re-elect the four main
offices of the committee. Which
are the Chair, Deputy Chair,
Secretary and Treasurer, there
are several other offices such as
Communications and Events, but
these are appointed by the Chair
in consultation with the Club
President.
I would urge any Light Blue who
wishes to stand for an elected
office to contact me as soon as
possible no later than the 27th of
April 2024 as that is the deadline
for submissions.
Moreover, any Light Blue who
wishes to help out in any capacity
should contact me as soon as
they wish.
The clubs main concern is
engagement and with this in mind
we have several events currently
being
organised
by
the
committee to be delivered over
the next 12 months, some of
these are the Provincial events
such
as
the
Investitures
Ceremony on 14th June where
we are hoping many Light Blues
might wish to come with the club
and not only see the Investitures
but have a few drinks and a meal
after.
The next is a Cricket match
against East Kent Light Blues at
Meopham on the 18th August
2024, where we hope to retain
the trophy we won last year.
Anyone wishing to play please
contact me on the email below
this is a great day to come and
watch and bring the whole family
as well.
In September there will be a
sponsored walk to raise money
for
charity
and
promote
Freemasonry to the public. After
this we are thinking of a visit to
the
Masonic
museum
in
Canterbury followed by a brewery
tour.
We would like to restart our
Saturday breakfast club and are
looking for volunteers to hold
them
around
the
province
periodically. If you can hold them
in a Masonic Centre or another
suitable venue do let us know. All
these events need not only your
participation but your help in
getting them off the ground so if
you would like to help the
committee please get in touch.
We are also connected to the
Light Blues Lodge which this
year will change its name from
Lesnes Abbey Lodge to West
Kent Cornerstone Lodge No.7393
and will meet at Bromley as from
October this year its new meeting
dates will be 2nd Wednesdays in
October (Installation), December,
March and June this Lodge is
particularly for Light Blues and it
is intended that all progressive
Offices will be held by Light
Blues. I would encourage any
Light Blue thinking of joining
another Lodge to give this one
serious thought.
This is my last year on the
committee as I have gained
provincial Honours, and I would
like to thank all the members that
I have worked with over the
years that I have been on the
committee
for
their
help
especially the committee that
worked with me as Chair this
past year. I wish the Club every
success in the future, and I will
continue to support it in all its
endeavours as it grows.
