LIFE BEYOND THE CHAIRS
THE PAST MASTERS
LODGES
What is a Past Masters Lodge?
A Past Masters Lodge is, as its
name
implies,
a
lodge
for
Freemasons who have been, or
who are currently, installed as the
Master or Past Master of a lodge.
However, anyone can visit, you
don’t have to be a Past Master.
What does a Past Masters Lodge
do?
A
Past
Master’s
lodge
complements the activities of
existing lodges; in that the lodge
does not conduct the usual
progressive ceremonies, except
for
the
annual
Installation
ceremony of the new Master and
the Officers. Instead, the Lodge
meetings are an opportunity to
take a further step in Masonic
knowledge,
via
lectures,
interactive talks and discussions,
demonstrations
or
plays,
all
usually, but not exclusively with a
Masonic theme.

PAST MASTERS LODGES
From a Masters Perspective
As with a lot of things in
Freemasonry it is word of mouth or
a friendly invite which sparks your
interest.
This is exactly what happened to
me, I was invited to visit such a
Lodge and went along as a guest.
From the moment I arrived I noticed
how relaxed the atmosphere was
and was greeted very well, I
enjoyed the afternoon and evening
so much, it left me with a desire to
join a Past Masters Lodge.
Within the Province there are three
such Lodges to choose from, I
choose West Kent Past Masters
Lodge,
primarily
because
of
meeting dates and times.
West Kent Masters Lodge have had
Masonic talks including ones as
diverse as the service and scandal
of Masonic politicians and the
escapades of the last Grand Tyler
and how he supported the Grand
Master over many years entitled
