Has there been an improvement lately in West
Kent membership and are we getting more
enquiries from prospective members who are
interested in becoming Freemasons?
We know the rate of decline in numbers has dropped
dramatically and there is a very real prospect that we
are about to see a flat line leading to growth. A
decline in numbers is never something to celebrate
but we can be confident that the years of
unaddressed decline are over and a future of growth
beckons.

6. The Members’ Pathway is an important
initiative by UGLE. Some lodges have embraced
this wholeheartedly and their efforts have borne
fruit. What can be done to encourage and
motivate other lodges to take similar steps?
The Members9 Pathway is the simplest and most
effective tool we have. It is no more than an
amalgamation of good practice that is proven to grow
Lodges when properly embedded and implemented.
We have a dedicated and committed team that is
waiting for your call. The help and guidance is there,
please make use of it.
If motivation is needed, I would urge any Lodge to
look around their own centres. One third of our
Lodges have grown in number from this time last
year. They haven9t grown by luck but by the
determination of the members. Your Lodge could
start to grow or grow further if you adopt and
implement the Members9 Pathway and work as a
team to retain your members and ensure that they
are receiving a good masonic experience at every
meeting. It9s all within our grasp, we just need to
recognise the opportunity and seize it.
7. When you come to the end of your tenure, how
might you measure your success?
I am of the view that there will be one measure of
success and that will very simply be,
