Meet Our Friendly Finance Team
Queenscourt’s Finance Team has the key responsibility of
ensuring the financial integrity of our organisation.
Head of Finance, Chetan Thakkar, is ably supported by Leon Ferry
and Hannah Parker as Finance Officers, together with Tracey
Barlow and Angela Norton as Finance Assistants.
As part of his role, Chetan oversees the provision of essential
statutory financial information to support the Trustees, Directors
and budget holders of the charity.
He said: After understanding more about the work of Queenscourt,
it was an easy decision for me to want to become part of the team.
“I wanted to do something different, be a part of a multiprofessional team and make a difference in the community.”
Tracey Barlow, Finance Assistant at Queenscourt, is currently
fundraising for the hospice, taking part in the London Marathon
this October, after her late husband Andrew was cared for by
#teamqueenscourt
When asked what their favourite aspect of working for Queenscourt
was, the team said: “#teamqueenscourt is
an amazingly special family. Everyone here is very friendly, supportive
and compassionate in what they do.”
“The excellent communication throughout the organisation, hybrid
and flexible working, continuous learning, and brilliant work culture are
some of our favourite things we love about Queenscourt Hospice.”
A Gift Can Make All The Difference
Our dedicated team at Queenscourt are always looking to do more for our patients. A little
while ago our Dementia Link Nurse, Lisa Lawton, highlighted some specialist equipment
that would make a big difference in our care for patients with dementia.
Now thanks to two wonderful grants, the ward team have been happily unboxing all these
items, which will help so many of our patients whilst they stay with us.
A big thank you to the Card Factory Foundation and Skipton Building Society Charitable
Foundation for making this possible.
Queenscourt Staff were also delighted to receive a selection of beautiful handmade quilts and
patient’s property bags from Sue Wilson on behalf of the Ormskirk Clocktower Rotary Club.
Thank you so much to the Ormskirk Clocktower Rotary Club for all your hard work and
your kindness.
Linzi & Jacob’s Special Wedding Favours
Long time supporter and beautiful bride, Linzi Young, tied the knot with Jacob Houghton earlier this
year, and we are delighted that they chose to give all their guests Queenscourt Wedding Favours,
supporting our compassionate care on their special day.
Your personalised Queenscourt Hospice Wedding favours with a choice of pin badge can be ordered
by calling our Fundraising Team on 01704 517420 or by emailing fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk
We wish Linzi and Jacob a lifetime of happiness, and would like to thank them for
supporting Queenscourt on their special day.
Julian Bailey and son Harry Climb Mount Kilimanjaro for Queenscourt
Julian Bailey and his son Harry have recently completed
the incredible 19,341ft climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of
Queenscourt Hospice.
The pair successfully summitted the mountain at 6:30am on
Saturday 27th August. Earlier this year Julian also completed the
280 mile London to Paris Cycle for Queenscourt.
The challenge has been in the pipeline for a few years but sadly
the pandemic meant Julian had to delay the date. The great
news is, his son Harry was old enough to take on the challenge
with him.
Summit day starts at 11:30pm, walking for over 6 hours in
extreme cold through the night up a 25% gradient, with time
to enjoy the sunrise and summit and then another 9 hours of
walking (part of which was through a snowstorm) all the way
down to 10,000 ft.
Julian’s inspiration for taking on his challenges this year for
Queenscourt was as a way of saying thank you to the health
workers’ that were so committed and worked tirelessly during
the pandemic. Knowing that Queenscourt is a charity that relies
on donations and knowing how difficult the past few years have
been for fundraising, Julian chose to raise funds for Queenscourt
Hospice as we looked after his lovely mother-in-law.
Julian adds, “If you like the idea of my general suffering in the
name of a good cause, or are just willing to support this amazing
place, please consider donating towards Queenscourt’s
fabulous work”. Thank you
Huge thanks to Lenovo, Julian’s employer, who decided to match
the donations giving an even bigger boost to his fundraising.
