MATTHEW PORTER
I have been serving on the Milk & Honey team
since January 2022 and it has been such an
influential part of my life so far.
I believe that it is important to greet people with
a smile and to make them feel welcome when
they interact with our team.
Having the ability to serve such a warm
community brings me the most joy and has given
me the opportunity to establish friendships after
struggling to get connected.
Over these last couple of years, I have become
more active and motivated to be at church
which has allowed my faith to grow and mature
immensely.
Being a part of the Milk & Honey team is a
privilege and a blessing, it is so refreshing to
be surrounded by people who are present and
encouraging in God’s plan for us.
STEPHEN CHEN
I have been serving in the Milk & Honey team for
about 10 years. I still remember the first time I
sat down for a chat with the then hospitality team
leader.
He said to me “I want to create a space where the
congregation can sit down, enjoy a meal together,
fellowship with each other, and share their stories
with each other”. His motto for the cafe continues
to serve me well.
There are times when I have thought of quitting
but every time, I am reminded of the vision and so
I keep serving!
When I first started in the cafe team, I was the
only person from my household. In more recent
years, my wife and my children have started
serving alongside me. This has certainly made
serving in this team much more enjoyable, as I get
to observe growth in my children as they serve.
Serving together has strengthened our family
bond, and I no longer drive home alone.
