An ongoing project
The Rotary Clubs, working with Thames 21 organised a Cleanup to clear Plasc waste and rubbish from the Thames and its
tributaries. About half of the Clubs in District took part, plus
Clubs in Benfleet and Staines it was a great opportunity to
promote awareness of the problem plasc parcually single
use, being thrown or not being discarded responsibly.
We have the full support of the Environment Agency and
Local Councils and will connue to involve as many youth/
sport and ‘green’ groups as possible, under the banner of
‘End Plasc Soup’ and ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ in future
collecons.
The River Thames is certainly cleaner than it was 50 years
ago, but it’s not free of polluon.
