TACKLING ANTI-SOCIAL
BEHAVIOUR
Anti-social behaviour can make peoples lives a misery in their own home.
It must always be taken seriously. For many, it has a terrible, long-term impact
on quality of life, health and wellbeing and their sense of safety. It blights
communities and makes people feel less safe.
I have worked on projects to tackle and prevent
anti-social behaviour for many years. As a councillor
I worked with communities a昀昀ected by anti-social
behaviour. I have worked one-to-one supporting
and advocating for victims of anti-social behaviour,
feeling their upset, distress and anxiety. I have
consistently lobbied the Government, including
directly with the Prime Minister, to strengthen the
law and ensure more support for victims of antisocial behaviour.
Working with Community Safety Partnerships, local
authorities and wider partners, we will establish a
new ambition for tackling anti-social behaviour in
our communities - with new models of participatory
budgeting to give local communities a direct say on
how to spend crime prevention funding.
A Labour Government will bring forward plans for
new Respect Orders with criminal sanctions for
persistent anti-social behaviour. I support this,
alongside greater local use of Restorative Justice
and community payback programmes.
