Art
Saba has acquired quite an artist community over the last few years. The Five Square
Gallery strives to bring the best in Caribbean art and in particular Saban art, to the
residents of and visitors to Saba. They offer original paintings, giclées, prints,
sculptures, carvings and folk art. Emi is there to welcome you.
“The Studio” at Juliana’s Hotel
The Studio on Saba. An Artist's Forum. We've created a space where Artists can be
together, work together and create together! The Studio is a place where artists can
come together for various workshops, where they can share techniques, tips & tricks
during workshops. Every art form from Shibori, weaving, sewing, jewelry making,
painting (watercolors, acrylics, oils,) to textiles and even photography...
the world is at your fingertips.
Spirits & Arts on Saba is all about an afternoon of talking about art, thinking about
art and creating art. You don’t have to be a professional, just get out of your usual
routine and become artsy for two hours while having some beverages, hors d'oeuvres
and fun. We have 4 different events, alternating every Sunday at “The Studio.”
Booze & Beads - Grab a boozy drink and you will have access to Anna's full
collection of beads from around the world to make necklaces, bracelets, and
earrings. A different beading technique will be taught at each workshop such as
simple stringing, intricate peyote stitch, and wrapped wire.
Craft & Cocktails - Grab your cocktails and crafts! Cocktails and crafts is a
catch all for anything that doesn't fit into any other workshop…and is just plain
fun! It can be anything from painting wine glasses to macrame.
It's the way we mix it up.
Taste & Tie Dye - Grab your concoction and prepare to get psychedelic.
Anna Elizabeth Keene will take you on a journey of colors and patterns in the tie
dye world.
Toast & Textiles - Grab a beverage while Els Mommers takes you into the world
of textiles with her beautiful fabric and material manipulation. You'll be using these
fabrics and stencils to create amazing landscapes and art pieces.
Sacred Heart Church “Sistine Chapel”
Saba has its own version of the Sistine Chapel created by resident artist Heleen
Cornet in the Sacred Heart Church in the village of The Bottom. This project took
over 2 years to complete. While strolling through this village don’t forget to stop by
and see this beautiful site or ask your friendly taxi driver to point it out to you if
you’re on an island tour.
