Global Health Relies on Safe Water
Global Prosperity Relies on Safe Water
More than two billion people around the world lack access to
safe water. If we fail to act, the number of people without safe
water access is projected to grow to 4.5 billion by 2030. Addressing
the water crisis requires scaling demonstrated approaches that
reach those most in need.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in 2015, represent a universal
call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
While SDG 6.1 specifically focuses on water supply, water plays a critical role in many other SDG targets.
The coronavirus pandemic has exemplified
the vital role that safe water plays in the fight
against disease. In that sense, what we do at
Safe Water Network is addressing a colossal public
health problem—by demonstrating how safe
water provision and proper hygiene can be
