Salisbury's Arc Suppression Blankets
Are used as a barrier for protection from explosive and incendiary effects of electrical
arc and flashes. These hazardous electrical discharges can be caused by faults in
cables, in cable splices and joints, and at transformer terminals, or they may be
generated by the operation of switch gear, circuit breakers and lightening arrestors.
The blankets are ideal for workers protection in underground vaults, switch yards,
and other locations where electrical equipment poses a risk of exposure to explosive
electrical discharges.

Is placed permanently in front of switch gear, motor control centers and other high
voltage apparatus to provide personal protection for workers. It can also be used when
tending take-up and pay-out reels, adding or replacing conductors or wrapped around
poles when setting new poles to guard against accidental line contact. Switchboard
matting is available in class 2 (20kV) or class 4 (40kV). Class 2 is made from high
quality Type II Rubber, 1/4" thick and tested to 20kV to comply with ASTM D 178,
Class 2 specifications. Class 4 is 1/2" thick and tested to 40kV to comply with ASTM
D 178, Class 4 specifications. Matting has corrugated surface to enhance traction and
reduce possibility of particles becoming embedded. Class 2 matting is available in 25
yard rolls and class 4 is available in 20 yard rolls. Both classes can be custom cut to
specific lengths in 1 yard increments per customer request.
