Problem Statement
Food security is becoming an issue due to a number of factors including amongst others pricing,
migration and reduced interest in farming over the years.
Levels of poverty are rising in the economically active population in South Africa, posing a
business risk for Sasol:
▪ High unemployment rate in fenceline communities exacerbated by COVID-19 circumstances.
▪ Increasing community unrest due to the lack of opportunities in Sasol Supply Chain.
