COMMUNITY OF CARE
A Special Place to Play
Each year the Ben Franklin Elementary PTO hosts
fundraisers such as Rally for Kids and Hoops Night.
Through the generous donations of families in our Ben
Franklin community, two new pieces of fully inclusive
playground equipment were purchased. The rubber floor
foundation was funded by the SDMF.
The equipment is wheelchair accessible, providing opportunities for all students to share experiences with
their classmates. "We are grateful to our PTO for providing a play area that promotes an equitable,
inclusive environment for our students to enjoy together," said Carlene Hansen, principal at Ben Franklin.
“This playground area further promotes our efforts to support our district aim: All students and families
feel they belong in our school community.” On Monday, November 30, the new playground area was
dedicated in memory of one of our youngest Statesmen, Arjun Nayak. In spring, a plaque will be mounted
next to this area reading: “May his playful spirit fill us with joy.”
Community Cupboard
Megan Schulz, a sophomore at Menomonee Falls High School, is working
on her Girl Scout Gold Award project and has created four community
giving cupboards filled with school supplies for those who are in need but
are available for everyone to use and donate to help. The cupboards are
located at each of the elementary schools within the community. To find
out more information about the cupboards, or how to help, please visit
her website at: https://communitygivingcupboards.weebly.com

Resource Reach-Out Room
Thanks to Jaskowiak Chiropractic clients and staff, and also employees of
the FedEx Distribution Center in Germantown for generously donating
school supplies, clothing and other essentials to our Resource Reach-Out
Room. The Resource Reach-Out Room, located at Ben Franklin Elementary
School is available for any family within our district and offers clothing,
basic hygiene items as well as school supplies. Jaskowiak Chiropractic and
FedEx also gave large donations last year as well!
