In this course students will be taught basic skills in hand-built
techniques, learn to utilize clay in its various stages and become
conversant in the terms relating to clay. They will gain
proficiency in preparing, working with, and preserving clay, and
begin to understand the many glaze, under-glaze and stain
techniques for enhancing bisque-fired pieces.
CERAMICS 2
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: Ceramics 1
Course Number: AR260
Building on the skills from Ceramics 1, students will be learning
more sophisticated techniques and will be expected to work at
a higher level of achievement. Advanced Hand built techniques,
potters wheel throwing and group critiques are prominent
features of this class. The projects are concept based allowing
students a great degree of individuality and personal choice.
Precision, craftsmanship and creativity are emphasized.
Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good problem
solving skills are essential for success in this class.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: None
Course Number: AR245
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and
comprehensive understanding necessary to become confident
with photography.
Students will have project based
assignments and terminology, along with weekly critiques.
Projects will address aesthetic principles as they relate to
composition, spare, exposure, light and color. This course
begins with traditional photography as an art form evolving into
digital manipulation with Adobe Photoshop. (STUDENTS NEED
TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN DIGITAL CAMERA, NOT A CELL PHONE
CAMERA, FOR THIS COURSE)

Prerequisite: DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1
Course Number: AR247
Building on the skills from Digital Photography 1, students will
be learning more sophisticated Adobe Photoshop techniques
and be expected to work at a higher level of achievement. By
exploring photographic and digital media with the computer,
students will be able to develop a body of work that reflects a
range of problem solving, ideation, and versatility with
techniques to demonstrate their Adobe Photoshop abilities.
