DRAWING & DESIGN 1
One Semester Course

Prerequisite: None
Course Number: AR310
Students will explore drawing materials, methods, concepts and
expression based on visual observation. If you are interested in
drawing, painting, architecture, interior or fashion design, this
class will enhance your confidence, skills and ability to draw,
design and illustrate your ideas.
DRAWING & DESIGN 2
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: Drawing & Design 1
Course Number: AR320
Building on skills from Drawing and Design 1, students will be
learning more sophisticated techniques and will be expected to
work at a higher level of achievement. Abstract and Realistic art
are explored through imagination, observation and design.
Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good problem
solving skills are essential for success in this class.
FINE CRAFTS AND SCULPTURAL OBJECTS
(Formerly Fine Crafts)
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: None
Course Number: AR117
In this course students will learn to appreciate and understand
the thought that is required to create sculptural objects and
functional art. They will learn to use various materials such as
plaster, wire, clay, paper mache and found objects. Methods
will include assemblage, mixed media, and mold making.
Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good problem
solving skills are essential for success in this class.
PAINTING 1
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: None
Course Number: AR330
Students will learn skills and techniques necessary for the
creation of successful and expressive paintings. Projects will
emphasize composition, brushwork, color mixing and the use of
value and contrast. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and
good problem solving skills are essential for success in this class.
PAINTING 2
One Semester Course
Grades 9-12
Prerequisite: Painting 1
Course Number: AR350
Building on skills from Painting 1, students will learn more
sophisticated techniques and will be expected to work at a
higher level of achievement. Abstract and Realistic art are
explored through imagination, observation and design.
Students will continue to work with acrylic paint and surface
manipulation to develop an individual and personal style. The
process for interpretation and evaluation of paining styles will
be taught. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good
problem solving skills are essential for success in this class.
