In this course students will learn to appreciate and understand
the thought process that is required to create sculptural
objects. They will learn to use various materials such as metal,
wire, glass and found objects. Methods will include assemblage,
soldering and mixed media. Personal responsibility, selfmotivation, and good problem solving skills are essential for
success in this class.
COMPUTER DESIGN 1
In this course, students will learn basic design skills and Adobe
Illustrator. The areas of study include problem solving to create
appropriate design solutions, layout and publications design.
Students will be encourage to meet professional criteria
regarding quality design and deadlines. Personal responsibility,
self-motivation,
communication/critique
and
time
management skills are essential for success in this class. (This
course is also required course for the Creative
Academy/DC&M)

Building on skills from Computer Design 1, students will learn
more sophisticated techniques and will be expected to work at
a higher level of achievement. Branding, label design, selfpromotion, graphic design and digital portfolios will be taught
in this class. Colleges often call this class Visual
Communications, Graphic Design, Design Communication, or
Marketing Design. Personal responsibility, self-motivation,
communication/critique and time management skills are
essential for success in this class.
This course offers students the opportunity to explore new
techniques and refine their skills with acrylic paint, watercolor
and collage. Students will have more freedom of choice in their
media and style of expression. They will be expected to
translate their ideas into painting compositions and begin to
master the painting media. The process for interpretation and
evaluation of painting styles will be emphasized. Each student
will be expected to improve and expand upon personal skills
and abilities. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good
problem solving skills are essential for success in this class.
