Dallas Zoo Visited Shelton
Veterans’ Day Salute
Dallas Zoo keepers visited Shelton
on Sept. 22, 2022, and taught PrePrimary and Primary students about
a variety of animals, including a
tortoise, parrot, anteater, Argentine
Tegu and an African Penguin.
Both Lower School and Upper Elementary
students recognized Veterans’ Day on
Nov. 11, 2022, by thanking Shelton staff
members who are veterans and playing
“Taps” for fallen veterans, including Andy
Krippner, who graduated from Shelton in 2010 and was a
Private First Class killed in action on May 23, 2011. The students
in Shelton’s Military Club distributed flag stickers to students.

Lower School students
participated in the
“Spectacular” performance.
Students showcased their
talents in drama, music, STEM
and art in a variety of ways.
WFAA WeatherMinds Meteorologist
Mariel Ruiz visited with Primary
students in March 2023 to talk
about the weather. First and second
graders were engaged as they
learned about the science behind
tornadoes, lightning and the types
of clouds.
Montessori Methods
Lower School Library Fun
Students enjoyed library fun with Elementary Library Media
Specialist Marissa Montgomery.
Lower School students used the multisensory Montessori
materials to engage in their studies of the continents and
mathematic operations.
Pumpkin Patch Fun
Pre-Primary students took a field trip to visit the pumpkin patch.
Boots and Bling
The Shelton Parents’ Association created the Boots and Bling
event for Lower School students and their parents.
Mother’s Day Tea
Pre-Primary students hosted a Mother’s Day Tea on Friday,
May 12, 2023.
Lower School’s Second Annual Winter Parade
Lower School students and staff were the stars at the Lower
School Holiday parade on Dec. 15, 2022. There were holiday
songs, elves, ballerinas, super heroes, unicorns, Pokemon
characters, MoMo the therapy dog and more! Families and
friends enjoyed the sights, sounds and adorable floats.
A Taste of the Texas State Fair in Shelton’s Dining Hall
Lower School Celebrates National Library Week
The theme of National Library Week on April 23-29, 2023, was
“There’s More to the Story.” In celebration of reading, all Shelton
teachers and students, from preschool through twelfth grade,
read stories in their classrooms from 8:30-8:40 a.m. on April 24.
Middle and Upper School students read stories to the Lower
School classes.
Chef Christian Moreno and the SAGE team treated Lower
School students to Texas State Fair favorites, including
corny dogs.
Lower School Awards Ceremony
Students each received awards at the Lower School Awards
Assembly on May 24, 2023. Davis Ferry received the Shelton
Parents’ Association Lower School Scholarship Award.
Mayfest 2023
At Mayfest, Lower School students
enjoyed a parade, pep-rally,
inflatables, games, ventriloquist,
hot dogs and hamburgers.
