Shelton Academic Language Approach
(SALA - MTA)
Shelton’s Academic Language Approach utilizes a multisensory
structured language instruction based on the Alphabetic Phonics
approach. The foundation of this program is focusing on the rules
that govern the patterns of our language. The content moves from
simple to more complex methods. This program, which draws upon
the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach, integrates Visual,
Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile techniques to facilitate in-depth
analysis of decoding, comprehension, spelling, grammar, and
written expression. This program uses the Multisensory Teaching
Approach (MTA) materials that were developed by Margaret Taylor
Smith.
Instructor Training is available by
invitation. Contact the SALA - MTA course
director for more information.
