Admission
Shelton's admission process identifies students
who will benefit the most from the school's
highly specialized, personalized curriculum. New
students are accepted on the basis of teacher
recommendations, psycho-educational testing,
previous records and available class placements.
A multiday visit allows prospective students to
experience the school’s environment firsthand.
While testing is a vital part of the admission
process, the prospective student’s personal
characteristics, prior educational performance,
special talents and circumstances are also
considered. Together, they help determine the
match between the student’s needs and Shelton’s
specialized services.
Shelton uses a rolling admission process so that
students are accepted as placements become
available. Preference in the selection process is
given to siblings of currently enrolled Shelton
students and children of alumni. Admission
notification is given to the family within a week of
the applicant’s visit.
See the full admission process on Shelton’s
website at shelton.org or call the Admission Office
with questions or to schedule an appointment at
972-774-1772.
Financial Aid
Financial aid decisions are made on the basis of
need, along with student classroom citizenship
and academic performance. Shelton uses FACTS

agency, to objectively evaluate financial need.
Shelton School does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, religion or national and ethnic origin
in the administration of its educational policies,
financial and/or other school administrative
programs. It accepts learning-different students
from diverse backgrounds.
About 6.1 million children have received an ADHD
