Heaven: The Six Seals
Sunday, January 12, 2025 – Day 8
Read Revelation 6
Key Verse:
“For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” Revelation 6:17 (NKJV)
Key Reflection:
The seals of the scroll detail the wrath of God. It is a gruesome detail of the things to come before the
final judgment of God. It is difficult to understand the cataclysmic events that will take place on the
earth at the sixth seal, yet one can see that this event is beyond the control of humanity. Yet one thing
is certain. This time is coming. It is a time of disorder and chaos that is inevitable. And the question
raised in Revelation 6:17 is the question that humanity will answer by the lives that they live. Who is
able to stand in the great day of the wrath of God? This is when the wrath of God and the Lamb is
poured out in extreme measure, so that it can be called the time when “the great day of their wrath
came,” which no unbeliever will be able to resist. 10

Thought:
The wrath of God is God’s justice in the earth. As gruesome as it is points to God rewriting the order of
creation given its original intent. The point for us as believers is to exemplify the tenants of patient,
endurance, faithfulness and steadfast witness. 11 It is necessary for us to confess our sins before the Lord
so that we can be found faithful as to avoid the wrath of God. We do this through faithful obedience and
humble submission to the ways and will of God. We can run to Christ, the Lamb of God who has offered
the once and for all sacrifice that ensures our forgiveness and assures our confidence in Him. The six
seals remind us that the darker side cannot be hidden from God, because God is in it as well. 12

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I do not understand all of your ways. I am too human to know how you will pour out
your wrath on humanity. I do know that I do not want to experience your wrath. I want to live in your
favor forever and avoid your destruction of the world. I praise you for your faithfulness in seeing that I
am weak and in need of a Savior. Thank you for your blood, Lord Jesus. In your name we pray, Amen.
