4.11 Associated alterations
War Memorial
We are proposing to remove the damaged 1921 war
memorial from the south-east corner of the site.
The war memorial is not listed, and Historic England
noted that this is because the memorial has been
compromised by being heavily altered. The original
cross was replaces by a figure in 1988.
A new war memorial has been created on the south
side of the church.
North transept steps
The door to the north transept is un-usable because
the external steps have been removed. As a result, the
door appears unwelcoming and neglected.
This application includes a proposal to re-instate the
steps with a flight of stone steps sitting within the
recess. They would not impact on the pavement.
