Strong Hall
Renovation Completed
In 2018, Craftsbury Academy donated its former industrial arts and visual arts building to Sterling. Thanks to hundreds of donors over the past five years and the annual Craft of Sterling online auction, the donated space has been renovated and aptly named Strong Hall, in memory of
the late faculty and mentor Horace Strong. Horace was a man who found passion, friendship,
and humor in our community; he was known for so many things, his commitment to his craft
being one of them. While the College has been utilizing the renovated woodworking studio
since 2019, this year marked the completion of a wet fiber lab, a dedicated loom space, and
renovated multi-use classroom space. Now with spaces for gear repair, fiber arts, studio arts,
and woodworking, the building represents the heart of the environmental humanities degree.
