Hinchinbrook’s death
death a blow for
NSW breeding
Arthur and Harry Mitchell’s Yarraman Park Stud, Scone,
suffered a major loss in mid-July when their young
sire Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) tragically fractured
a hind leg.
Only 11 years old, Hinchinbrook was foaled and reared
at Yarraman Park and was a well performed three-parts
brother to champion sire Snitzel.
A Group 3 winner at two years and a multiple Group
1 placegetter at three years, Hinchinbrook was an
immediate success at stud, becoming leading first
season sire in Australia for the 2014/15 season.
To date, Hinchinbrook has left 14 stakes winners headed
by Group 1 winners Press Statement (now standing at
Vinery Stud, Scone) and the filly Seabrook as well as
Whispering Brook, Derryn (beginning a stud career in
New Zealand this season), Salsonic, Diamond Tathagata
(retiring to stud in Victoria this spring), Spright,
Flippant, Flying Jess and Hong Kong star Beat The
Clock among them.
Hinchinbrook had been fully booked for the 2018 season.
Hinchinbrook is an enormous
loss to the NSW Sire listing
