TBNSW Breeders Update Winter/Spring 2018 - Page 7

Timeform Review (continued)
Falling just short of sharing the
spoils with Impending for the highest
rated winner at the Brisbane Winter
Carnival was the Chris Wallertrained Comin’ Through who claimed
a maiden Group 1 success in the
Doomben Cup (2000m) on May 19.
A half brother to Newgate Farm’s
multiple Group 1- winning stallion
Criterion, connections made the
difficult decision to geld Comin’
Through during his summer hiatus.
The decision reaped almost instant
rewards with the son of Fastnet
Rock winning the Group 2 Ajax
Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March
17 before a luckless second in the
Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m)
behind Happy Clapper at Randwick
on April 7.
Comin_ Through (Fastnet Rock x Mica_s Pride)
Bad luck followed Comin’ Through
to Brisbane where he endured a
torrid run when running sixth in the
Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m)
at the Gold Coast on May 5.
The Doomben Cup represented a
change of fortunes for the Sir Owen
Glenn-raced four-year-old who
enjoyed a dream run in transit under
the guidance of Michael Walker.
Comin’ Through from there ran on
strongly out wide in the straight and
was able to edge out his stablemate
Egg Tart with a Doomben Cup victory
awarded a Timeform rating of 121.
As well as having English contest
The Everest, the Waterhouse-Bott
stable are also pushing for Prompt
Response to gain a start.
Prompt Response arrived in Brisbane
for the Winter Carnival after a full
autumn preparation in Sydney.
After a slender second in the Group
2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at
Doomben on June 9, the consistent
mare went one better to take out the
Tatt’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben a
fortnight later.
NSW BREEDERS’ UPDATE Winter/Spring 2018
Prompt Response (Beneteau x Prompt)
Taken to the front from an inside
draw by Blake Shinn, Prompt
Response was able to settle off the
leader Daysee Doom along the rail
for much of the race, kicking clear
at the top of the straight to claim a
one and a quarter length win over
Shillelagh in second with Super
Cash third.
The Beneteau mare returned a new
master Timeform rating of 115 for
the win, one pound clear of her
Dane Ripper Stakes performance
the run prior.
