Not Enough Jeffs on stage at Art in the Park 2023
On Stage
Art in the Park Rocks When There Are
Not Enough Jeffs
By Alice Roche Cody
s the band Not Enough Jeffs (NEJ) jammed to the
Rolling Stones9 Honky Tonk Women at Art in the Park
in Gladstone, the mood felt festive and fun. The musicians played
on a grassy patch near the flagpole at Liberty Park for the 23rd
annual arts festival. Their music marked a uniting force for the
afternoon, a way to engage those just passing by and more hardcore fans on this glorious end-of-season Saturday.
Nearby, neighbors browsed tents showcasing homemade soaps
and candles, funky jewelry and hand-knitted ponchos. Joggers and
bikers alike paused to listen and catch up with friends. On the
gravel path surrounding the pond, a dad pushing a double stroller
stopped to take in the sounds. A woman in red sweater held her
blond daughter, smiling and swaying.
For Donna Dooley, who lives down the road in Peapack, coming to see NEJ here is a five-year tradition, apart from the pandemic.
