INTERNSHIP
US
Upper School students have the option
to find a two-week internship with an
organization where they can offer tangible
benefit in an industry that aligns with their
own passions and skills. The internship
experience offers students the opportunity
to meet new people and practice networking
skills, establishing professional contacts,
mentors, and references while building their
resume.

PHOTOJOURNALISM
Explore the complex relationship
between images and words through the
every-day semiotics and phenomenology
of the long-form photojournalistic
process. That’s a very fancy way to
say we’ll be telling true stories using
photographs and words.
FIELD SCHOOL CSI
Learn about the elements of crime scene
investigation from the DC Department of
Forensic Services. Develop foundational skills
in evidence processing through mock crime
scenes. Learn more about the factors that
impact crime scene processing and apply
your knowledge to criminal justice issues.
Your final project will look at how crime
scenes play a role in the broader criminal
justice field.

EMPTY BOWLS: HUNGER IN DC
Students will design, create, and sell
functional pottery in collaboration with a local
food bank. Learn how to throw on the potter’s
wheel to create a variety of functional bowls.
During this session, you will use your skills to
create artwork and plan an event to benefit
partner organizations.

SOCIAL
ENTREPRENUERSHIP
Partner with a local business to solve a
real business problem! Learn the skills of
entrepreneurs like problem definition,
customer development, product
validation and marketing. Your team
will present a researched and developed
solution for the business problem to the
owner! You will also learn the skills for
designing your own business.
