STREETS TO BEATS
DIGITAL MUSIC PRODUCTION
Create some original music during
Intersession through digitally recording
and editing audio samples captured
from the streets of D.C. Various areas
around the city will be explored to
record real-life sounds. These recordings
will be developed into full tracks of
music by using sound design and
production techniques. Students will
edit, transform, and organize recorded
samples to develop a library of sounds
to create your own piece of music.
Various aspects of music composition
will be covered throughout the session.
Participants will be guided step-by-step.

THE HISTORY & CHEMISTRY
OF COOKING
Students will select recipes that are
meaningful to them and research the
history of the recipe and its ingredients.
Students will also explore the role that
chemistry plays in their cooking. We
will compile a class cookbook that
includes a short historical narrative
and explanation of the chemistry of
their recipes. On the last day of class,
students will bring in their dish and we
will share our research, our process, and
our food, in community.
