Five Bays Bistro on Main. Earthly Delights, known for its eco-minded
sandwiches and breakfast plates, gives off a bohemian vibe on West
Bay Road, and the Chart Room at Crosby’s serves an array of delicious
seafood and features a lovely view of North Bay.
Across the street from Fancy’s Market on Main is one of Osterville’s
unique features – the 8.5-acre, dog-friendly Armstrong-Kelley Park,
owned and operated by the Cape Cod Horticultural Society. The park
is home to 30 “rare and unusual trees,” hundreds of rhododendron, as
well as walking trails and the pet memorial garden, Buddy’s Place.
While Osterville’s year-round population of about 3,500 is small, it

touts a mix of excellent public and private schools from pre-K to 12th
grade, such as Cape Cod Academy and Bayberry Christian School.
A recent survey ranked Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis, a
quick drive from Osterville, No. 44 out of the top 100 Massachusetts
high schools. Books are not the only things offered at the spacious
Osterville Free Library. Throughout the year the village library hosts
several events and programs that include yoga classes, an annual golf
tournament to benefit the library and a summer concert series.
As for those beaches, the secluded, peninsula Dowses Beach, with its
beautiful views and soft sand, is simply the best place to stretch and
relax.
