900-acre section of the state’s largest shoreline park – Hammonasset
State Park – that features two miles of beach, lovely meadows, and
trails abound for exploration. The park is also a bird watchers delight.
Bauer Park’s 64 acres offer nature programs for kids, and at Rockland
Preserve there is a plentitude of hiking along with other outdoor
activities. The Surf Club Beach and East Wharf Beach are also popular
destinations.
With its well-regarded sailing program, young sailors will love Madison
Beach Club. For the mature crowd, nearby Guilford Yacht Club and
Sachem’s Head clubhouse are ideal for launching and storing yachts,
and hosting weddings. Not to mention, Guilford Yacht Club has lovely
stretch of salt marshes along the bank of the West River.
The golf scene is alive and well in Madison. The town holds both
private and public golf courses. The private Madison Country Club
has an 18-hole golf course and striking water views, along with a
renovated golf club and course designed by the nationally renowned

golf clubs include Guilford Lakes Golf Course in Guilford, which has
been named the town’s “Little Augusta,” along with the private Clinton
Country Club in Clinton Connecticut. Established in 1895, it is one
of the oldest golf clubs in the country. Its 18-hole course designed
by Geoffrey Cornish; it is both challenging and beautiful. With its
tranquil setting overlooking the first tee, it is a wonderful spot to dine
alfresco. CCC hosts events both large and small and has an exceptional
staff and fine cuisine.
The public Twin Lakes Golf Course in North Branford and Fenwick
Golf Course in Old Saybrook are nearby.
Madison’s public school system includes six schools, from pre-school to
high school. Otherwise, private schools include The Country School,
Connecticut Experiential Learning Center, as well as the Montessori
School of Madison. Given all the options, school age children and their
parents are sure to find just the right fit.
