of creativity in this town. This is an active community and its residents
are proud of its many treasures. The dining scene offers everything
from fine dining to diners, but the local favorite, by far, is Matunuk
Oyster Bar, with its lovely water views. Other popular restaurants
include the bayside TwoTen Oyster Bar & Grille, and Ocean Mist,
an honest to goodness seaside beach bar with an outdoor deck and
live entertainment. There is a wide range of shopping areas within the
town, and every village has its own interesting shops. One would need
more than a day to explore them all.
On the waterfront, the members only Green Hill Beach Club features
four acres and 800 feet of private beach front. The clubhouse is both
casual and formal and hosts many events.
Sailors have a wide range of yacht clubs from which to choose for
setting sail. The private, picturesque Wickford Yacht club, located
in North Kingstown, is tucked away in a quiet harbor. Nearby is the

private Weekapaug Yacht Club in Westerly. There are also several other
yacht clubs in the vicinity.
On the golf scene, Quidnessett Country Club, a private organization,
is one of the finest golf clubs in the area. Overlooking Narragansett
Bay, it contains a jewel of a course. Its lush greens are set hillside with
sweeping views of the coastline. Inside finds large and graceful whitewashed banquet rooms and other facilities that highlight this club’s
beauty. In Charlestown, the private and traditional family-oriented
Shelter Harbor Club sports 400 acres of open space and a highly rated
golf course, making it a bastion of New England living and hospitality.
South Kingstown’s public school system incudes South Kingstown
High School, two middle schools and four elementary schools
that serve its various villages. There is also a smattering of private
schools, such as Monsignor Matthew F. Clarke Regional School, the
Meadowbrook Waldorf School, South County Montessori School,
Prout School, and others.
