INTRODUCTION
The Experts in Residence (ExIR) provide Oxford's medical
sciences research community with access to world-leading
expertise and advice across multiple industry sectors. The ExIRs
can consolidate the development of compelling biomedical
translational research strategies, enriching projects with
commercial perspective and expertise. The experts provide
advice on technical, clinical or commercial aspects of innovative
projects, across a broad discipline range including drug discovery
and development, diagnostic technologies, digital health,
regulatory affairs, product design and patient engagement. The
ExIR programme is led and overseen by the Royal Society
Entrepreneur in Residence and the Translational Research Office
(TRO) in the University of Oxford's Medical Sciences Division.
BOOK A MEETING WITH AN EXPERT
Two years on, the Experts Programme has become an invaluable
resource to our medical sciences research community: more than
100 researchers have engaged an expert’s advice to date to
address translational knowledge and skills gaps within their
research programmes. The following pages celebrate some of
the key project successes and broader-impact training initiatives
which have been driven by the ExIRs and the TRO.
The Experts in Residence programme has been created to meet
the needs of the Oxford research community, bringing muchneeded commercial expertise to early translational projects. Our
Experts are held in high regard by the academics they support and
we look forward to adapting and expanding the programme in the
future, welcoming new ExIRs to Oxford to best support the
evolving innovative research portfolio.
