3 SPEND TIME IN THE GARDEN
At Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
you can picnic on the rolling lawns, explore
the Boomslang canopy walkway or stroll
through the indigenous gardens. Summer
sunset concerts run from November to early
April. Students get a discount for entry to the
gardens but you pay extra for the concerts.

There are some magnificent
free hiking routes in and
around Cape Town – Lion’s
Head is one of the most popular.
Other popular hikes are Platteklip
Gorge, which takes you to the top of
Table Mountain, and Newlands Forest,
which offers shady walks under the trees.
Remember always to follow mountain safety rules.
