Singer-Songwriters
of the 60s
The 1960s saw the birth of
a new figure in music: the
singer-songwriter. While
the stories of Leonard
Cohen, Bob Dylan and
Jimi Hendrix are all too
familiar, SingerSongwriters of the 60s
spotlights the female
figures who permanently
changed our musical
landscape. Featuring the work of Judee Sill, Joan
Armatrading, Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, vocalist
Kéren Tayar will be joined by Steven Feifke
and Alexa Tarantino in a genre-fluid portrait of
these oft-sidelined artists. With an emphasis on the
storytelling power of this music, the piece will bring
to light the contributions of these women who so
desperately deserve their own spotlight.
