Many vacation destinations rely on their natural
beauty to attract visitors and contribute to their
economy. However, 昀氀ocks of tourists can lead to
pollution, habitat destruction and other forms of
environmental degradation. If we all made small,
positive changes on vacation, we would not only
reduce our carbon footprint but also contribute
to the overall sustainability of the places we visit.

Setting the right example
By instilling admiration and respect for the planet
into our routine, we inspire the next generation to
follow our lead. These changes can be adopted
into everyday home life and transferred when
travelling far and wide. These small changes
are especially important when travelling with
younger family members as the next generation
naturally adopt our sustainable habits.
Where ethical exploration meets
environmental consciousness
The Sustainable Travel Co. are dedicated to
bringing together the thrill of discovery with a
deep commitment to environmental sustainability.
Two seasoned travellers, Andy Eames and
Josh Nicholson, sat down and realised that their
vision for the future of the travel industry was
grounded in the belief that even though travelling
will always impact the environment, it was
theoretically possible to have a net positive e昀昀ect
on local communities and ecosystems if enough
people ‘travel with conscience’.
Embracing New Zealand’s sustainable retreats
New Zealand’s unparalleled natural beauty can
serve as a backdrop for much ethically driven
exploration. These lodgings aren’t simply places
of rest; they represent sanctuaries that intertwine
luxury with environmental consideration.
Imagine indulging in the ‘Huka Lodge’ near
Taupo, 昀氀y 昀椀shing in the morning and enjoying
generous hospitality in the evening. Situated
along the Waikato River, it’s known for its
stunning natural surroundings, including
waterfalls and the Tongariro National Park. Huka
Lodge is dedicated to reducing their impact on
the environment and has adopted procedures to
ensure the preservation of their pristine waters
and environment as well as supporting the local
community of Taupō.

Sustainable travel is making the
conscious decision to explore
the world in a way that minimises
the effects your trip has on the

In the era of conscious consumption,
luxury travel is evolving into a balanced
blend of opulence and sustainability.
Embracing a reduced carbon footprint while
indulging in luxury travel doesn’t mean sacri昀椀cing
comfort or style. It means leaving a legacy of
responsible travel to preserve the beauty of
destinations for generations to come.
