By the time this edition has run its course, we will
have celebrated both Mother’s Day and Easter.
I would like to take this opportunity to say to my
mum, in my eyes you are the greatest woman to have
graced this Earth! To all mums reading this, your
children will feel the same!
If your children have eaten too many chocolate eggs,
perhaps the local Hertfordshire campaign below will
be of interest. Until next time, Robin

All primary schools in Hertfordshire are being
invited to participate in We Are Next – a
national campaign to get the next generation
moving and more connected with health,
fitness and their community.
Local fitness experts will deliver a free lesson
to Year Five pupils in schools across the region.
The lesson has been developed
by experienced fitness
practitioners and teachers, and
meets National Curriculum
criteria for Key Stage 2 on
Physical Education and the
newly reinstated PSHE.
All participating children will
be awarded a medal at a huge
celebration event in June, which is sponsored by the Ocado Foundation.
Over 35 primary schools have signed up already, but the campaign's goal is to
get 100 schools in Hertfordshire involved. Participation is free and local fitness
experts deliver the inspiring lesson. It’s designed to get children excited about
their health and wellbeing, and thinking more about the positive role they can
play in their community.
The big finalé in July will see up to 5,000 local children come together to
celebrate. All the children will be presented with a medal, to celebrate their
involvement, by someone quite special – that’s a surprise though, so no
spoilers just yet!
The hope is that local parents will talk to Teachers at local schools and
encourage them to get involved. Any school in the UK can download the
lesson plan, but only Hertfordshire schools are eligible for the lesson
delivery and medals at the celebration event.
