A taste of local
Inside East Bedforshire Magazine has teamed up with ‘Taste Life’ to bring you a selection
of amazing local eateries for you all to enjoy, on your doorstep.
The Crown, Shillington
A charming village pub set amongst
the bedfordshire countryside in the
pretty village of Shillington, The
Crown pride themselves on serving
seasonal dishes using locally sourced
produce where possible. Family and
dog friendly, where you can enjoy a refreshing wine or
cocktail in the sun in the spacious garden or patio area. Cosy
in the winter, you can enjoy a selection of beers, wine and
whiskey warming by the log fire, The Crown has something
to offer most evenings, such as grill nights, burger & beer
deals and of course an amazing Sunday Roast every week.

One King Street, Potton
Potton’s One King Street is a charming
café & delicatessen, with a fantastic,
well-stocked farm shop in the barn
next door where you can purchase
fresh bread, beers, wine and local jams
& chutneys. Serving delicious homecooked style food, prepared by chef Jamie using fresh, local
produce. People talk about the welcoming atmosphere,
friendly service and a breakfast that’s hard to beat,
especially the black pudding. The perfect place to while
away an hour or two over fresh coffee and cakes to die for!

The Vic, Hitchin
A cosy, traditional pub, The Vic is
perched on the edge of Hitchin
town centre, but very much firmly
established in the local community.
Built in the 1800’s, The Vic has taken
on many guises in its history. Since
2006, Victoria Kevans has transformed The Vic into a
vibrant, welcoming social hub. Enjoy the cosy fireplace in the
winter, while tucking into a delicious handmade pie, or while
away a summer’s evening in the bijou garden that plays host
to street food Fridays and regular live music. Atmospheric,
welcoming to all (dogs, bikes & family friendly they say!)
with an extensive menu, including a great Sunday roast with
vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free needs well catered for. As
they say so themselves, it really is everyone’s favourite local!

Kings Arms, Sandy
A friendly, traditional pub, The Kings
Arms is the perfect spot to enjoy a
relaxing Sunday roast from the wellstocked carvery. There are three large
screen TV’s showing live sport, and
pool tables to keep you entertained.
With two bars to choose from there’s a cosy spot for
everyone. A proper community pub, with a friendly welcome
from the hosts. There’s a large garden at the rear with lots of
space to enjoy a glass or two in the sun. You can even make a
night of it with a stay in one of the four charming chalets.
