Community Mapping
Activities
Becky met with library volunteers to
map out potential participants for our
connecting community target group
Early Years Children and Families:
•
Theatre Practitioner Becky Salt
delivered hourly sessions through a
combination of drop in and targeted
delivery off site at the local primary,
nursery and local children centre.
This was to improve relationships
between library staff, volunteers and
local education services.

Working with children aged 3-5,
sessions explored stories through
interactive play in order to develop
communication, co-ordination,
concentration and creative skills.
•
Sessions consisted of physical warm
ups, drama games and imaginative
role play. Stories were selected
from library books to create a sense
of ownership and belonging. As
the children became confident in
developing their own ideas, stories
and dramas were created from these

Over regular sessions, the children
helped and informed the New Vic’s
research to develop an interactive
performance to be performed back
at the library for themselves & their
