Partnering with the local school
and nursery centre established
meaningful partnerships and
fostered positive engagement.
This way of working led to a high
quality, co-designed piece of theatre
for libraries, relevant to early years
children, that was informed and
developed by themselves. In turn,
this created a sense of belonging and
a perception of the library being a
welcoming creative space.
Showing the impact and difference
creative activity can make through
observation before expecting active
participation can enable volunteers
to be more invested in the project’s
success.
Volunteers have increased their
understanding of organising and
delivering an arts project and in turn,
renewed their connectivity to their
local community.
