Think About
Social Media
The role and usefulness of social
media was highlighted as a challenge
and potential solution for increasing
participation and awareness of this
project.
Ask your users about their social media
use and how they find out about what’s
going on locally; promoting your pages
in person to your users and encouraging
them to like and follow will help
generate interest and shape how you use
these platforms in the future. If you lack
the confidence and skills to use different
social media platforms ask your users if
they can help when they share with you
what they use, how and why. Sometimes
new volunteers need a clearly defined
purpose and task where they can share
learning and provide support as distance
digital volunteers.

What social media platforms do you
and your communities use?
How often do you post and who is
engaging with these posts?
Do you engage, share and promote
activity with other local groups?
Library Volunteer
Champions
In order to engage with different
groups & stimulate interest in the wider
community, we enlisted a volunteer
at each library as a champion for the
project.
Think about who would be best to
support your project needs, someone
with an interest in the subject matter,
who knows your community well and
who has the time and energy to dedicate
to the project.
