Meet the Artist
Michaela McMillan
Michaela is a mixed media artist
based in Warwickshire who uses a
combination of textiles, embroidery and
found objects to make sculptures woven
within a storytelling context.
Michaela was commissioned because
of her range of experience working with
the community and the strong element
of storytelling in her work. Her rich
and colourful sculptural work has the
ability to capture the imagination and
the fun eclectic element of combining
found objects and materials could open
a world of possibilities and appeal to a
young audience.
Action Research Plan:
•
To focus the residency on the
impact volunteering has and the
change it can make to the library
and the community.
•
To explore key themes through
creative activity as a catalyst for
conversation; Using time, working
together, giving time, story-telling,
the heart of the community, e.g.
What is at the heart of your
community?
What does your heart consist of?
What do you do with your time?
What would you do if you have more
time?
•
To be responsive as themes are
explored; adapting to working off site
from the library and in local schools
in order to engage the targeted
community group.
