The Successes
•
A mix of slow repetitive
contemplative tasks, interspersed
with fast, dramatic activity worked
well.
•
Working on collaborative pieces
helped to create a shared sense of
ownership of the work and gave
participants the opportunity to dip in
and out of activity.

Each activity included an aspect
of the village, from using the
boundary map and local walks, to
donated objects for the chandelier
- connecting people to the project
in this way was successful in
motivating them to make their own
contribution.
The project was successful in
bringing different ages together.
There were several older members
of the community who lived on their
own, and their daily walks to the
library allowed them to connect with
others. For one lady, coming to the art
sessions made a real difference to her
daily routine.
•
A dedicated and supportive team
of volunteers helped make this
residency a great success which
led to the library winning the
Creativity and Heritage category
at Warwickshire Community and
Voluntary Action Volunteer Awards.
•
The target audience began to
increase, partly helped by younger
volunteers and a Duke of Edinburgh
participant, who supported the
residency throughout.
‘It’s lovely, I was quite low
before I came along, but I
feel so much happier now.’
