the project Ruth created a printed
activity book and resource box for use in
the library or for local groups, children
and elderly residents.

‘My aim is that local people unable to
attend my workshops will be able to
enjoy the activity book at home and
share it with other family members. It
will be displayed alongside the quilted
book and with a box of materials
available in the library if needed. This
will be integral to the display and will
include additional papers, pens, stamps,
ink pads and crayons.’

Patterns of Making
The artwork is a quilted book combing
hand and digitally printed elements
of participants work featuring hand
embroidery, cyanotype printing and
stamped designs, reflecting activities
which took place during the residency.
It will be displayed on a bespoke unit
in the library but can also be removed
easily to hand round for workshops and
group sessions.
