Contract recruitment trends
The interim market was a game of two halves
in 2022, with a bustling start to the year
tempered by subdued activity in the latter six
months.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine initially created
huge demand for contractors, as firms
sought to bolster their teams with sanctions
specialists who could help them understand
and navigate the many restrictions imposed
on Russia as a result of the conflict.
A range of other project-based work also kept
contractors busy in the first half of the year,
such as ongoing transformation initiatives
and ‘Skilled Person Reviews’ under Section 166
of the Financial Services and Markets Act.
53% of employers who
used contract, interim or
cosource support in 2022
did so for specific projects,
making it by far the most
commonly cited reason.
