Students who:
Enjoy questioning, debating and forming logical arguments
Love thinking and exploring ideas and concepts
Are keen to learn about the views of world-famous philosophers
Are able to talk about the following:
Existence of God, mental states, morality, religion, types of argument, cultural practices, reason, codes of
conduct, illusions, human behaviour, vegetarianism, religious language, consciousness, evil and suffering,
hallucinations and the relationship between mind and body.
What kind of work will I need to do outside lessons?
You will be expected to undertake background reading and individual research. Examiners expect students
to demonstrate a broad understanding of concepts which can be gained by independent studies outside the
classroom. Understanding the concepts of this course can take time and perseverance. You will also be
expected to write regular essays in this subject. Membership of the PPE Society is also highly advised.
